Sept. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- But still India is a big hope for great investments as Indian minds are very much innovative in knowledge and values to cross the conventional approaches in research and development. ue to various factors, entrepreneurial skills are missing in the minds of future techies for which career option to become an entrepreneur becomes less lucrative. Why a student always thinks about a job to rationalize the investments made in education? The answer is the absence of adequate guidance to bring out successful entrepreneurs.

Capitalizing on this theme, Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, organized a Colloquium on Entrepreneurship which is named as “KNOT” (Key Note on Technopreneurship) 2012 on 28th and 29th September which was  participated by various engineering college students across Kolkata and Durgapur. Among them the prominent ones were Bengal College of Engineering and Technology, Durgapur Institute of Advanced Technology, Pailan College of Management and Technology, Seacom Engineering College and many more. More than 40 starts-ups conceptualized by the students were discussed, guided and evaluated by eminent mentors like Prof. Bijon Duttagupta, IIPM, Kolkata, Prof. Barnali Dey, DSMS, Durgapur, Prof. Srabasti Roy, DSMS, Durgapur, Prof. Ankush Dasgupta, MID, Durgapur, Prof. Sandip Chatterjee, Heritage Institute of Technology and Prof. Rimu Chaudhuri, Heritage Institute of Technology. The Colloquium was inaugurated by Dr. Pranay Chaudhuri, principal and Dr. Sobhen Roy, registrar, Heritage Institute of Technology.

The session started with a welcome address by the principal of Heritage where he spoke the essence of entrepreneurial skill and mindset among the students which is very much necessary in the present time. “Unless we are able to create and guide the students in establishing their ventures, the work remains unfinished. To initiate this cause every year KNOT will be organized by Heritage to guide the future Technopreneurs,” said. Dr. Chaudhuri. Dr. Roy, registrar, Heritage, stressed in his welcome address on the present problems which future engineers are facing in getting a job when there is a growing crisis in the world economy. “So pondering on such a situation, students should focus on a career as job givers not as job seekers,” said Dr. Roy.

KNOT 2012 was very much successful among the future techies where they were able to describe their venture and also were able to discuss their problems. Many of the problems were focusing on getting finance for the business projects, preparing a feasibility report, identifying the potential customers, managing the statutory approvals and many more. “This programme has given us some of the valuable contacts which can solve my problem of getting the right amount of funds for my business,” said one of the participants from Heritage.  Ideas relating to making of computer hardware firm, digital marketing firm, E-retailing and many more were addressed.
