Home Health is Preparing for ICD-10 Implementation

Usher, President of JLU Health Record Systems, is scheduled to speak at the 84th American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Convention & Exhibit, which takes place October 1-3 at Chicago, IL. Usher’s topic is “How Home Health is Preparing for ICD-10.”

On Monday, October 1 at 1:00 PM, Usher will be presenting on how Health Agencies are preparing for ICD-10 and review a 12-month timeline of items needed for ICD-10 compliance.  Usher will review ICD -10 preparedness for a wide range staff including Administration, Field Clinicians, Quality Improvement (QI), Information Technology (IT) and Coding. As well as discuss how agencies are partnering with physicians to document the details necessary for ICD-10 coding.  In addition to the speaking engagement, Joan Usher is pleased to announce the unveiling of two self-paced home health coding courses in partnership with Barry Libman Inc.

“Home Health Agencies will need to understand how ICD-10 coding will impact their case mix and quality outcome reporting. This session will include the significant areas in home health which are impacted by ICD-10 including Home Health Resource Groups, Training and Education Needs, and Quality Reports.  I will also cover the departments that are impacted most and what those departments will need to understand to transition to ICD-10,” says Joan Usher, President of JLU Health Record Systems.
