Albert has been a staff member with Orlando Shakespeare Theater for more than a decade. Originally from Chicago Heights, Illinois, PJ attended school at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he studied Theatre. He has worked for such organizations as Williamstown Theatre Festival, Santa Fe Opera, and RSL Theatrical and has designed lighting, sound, pyrotechnics, and handled event management for such companies as AFLAC, Synovus, and the Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant. In 2001, he joined the staff of the OST as the master electrician. Since that time, PJ has held the positions of production manager, Guest services director, business manager, and general manager within the company.
OST Board President Keith Hesse praised Albert’s experience, intelligence, and passion as the perfect mix for the job. “With the support and guidance of the Orlando Shakespeare Theater staff, the OST Board of Directors conducted a thorough search for the right candidate to succeed Shannon. PJ’s qualities as a dedicated administrator, financial steward, and compelling leader brought him to the forefront of a strong pool of candidates. We believe that PJ will help Orlando Shakes reach extraordinary goals in the years to come.” Hesse concluded that Albert begins his new duties full-time in early October.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that PJ is the perfect person for this valuable position,” said OST artistic director Jim Helsinger. “His knowledge of the Theater is boundless. He already has a deep respect for the history and body of work of OST as well as great relationships with our audience. I know there is much we can accomplish together.”
PJ Albert is thrilled and honored by his Orlando Shakes’ appointment. “I am pleased to have the opportunity to co-lead this outstanding organization,”
