Jane Fonda and Andy Cohen Take Center Stage for Candid Talk

Oct. 11 fundraising event with legendary film actress and philanthropist Jane Fonda and Bravo TV host Andy Cohen: A Candid Conversation with Jane Fonda

Sept. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- New York, New York - Andy Cohen, the outspoken television executive, author and witty host of Bravo network’s nightly “Watch What Happens Live,” and two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, who is anything but shy, will let the sparks fly in a broad ranging, candid conversation about her life, feminism, and most notably her extraordinary body of work over the last five decades.

The event, which will benefit Fonda’s Atlanta-based teen pregnancy prevention organization, is a star-studded celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the film KLUTE, and Fonda’s brutally honest and poignant portrayal of prostitute Bree Daniel.

Fonda is slated to discuss the making of  KLUTE, which was directed by Alan J. Pakula, including her extensive work with prostitutes where she learned how to speak and act the part.

“I didn’t walk the streets,” says Fonda, “but I did spend a lot of time with hookers and Madames, and went to their after hours clubs where their Johns were, and no man even gave me a wink.”

This extraordinary evening will mark the first time the legendary actress will address these issues since the film, which also starred Donald Sutherland as John Klute, was released. The 1971, critically acclaimed film tells the story of a prostitute who works with a detective to solve a missing person’s case.

Fonda and Cohen, along with special guest Sandra Bernhard, will take center stage on October 11, 8:00 to 11:00 at The Darby, located at 244 West 14th Street in New York City.
The Host Committee for the one-of-a-kind event includes such recognizable names as Jimmy Buffett,  Chris Noth, Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington, Larry Poston, and Troy Garity. Other prominent committee members who are lending their support include Mickey Boardman, Carolyn Carr, Ariel Foxman, Marjorie Gubelmann, Carla Gugino, Lady Bunny, Samantha Mathis, Megan Ferguson, Colin Savage, Sharon Maxwell Ferguson, Ann Roth, Andrew Saffir, Jennifer Sample, Jake Shears, Michael Stipe.

The event, which is being planned by numerous notables in the fashion, arts and hospitality communities, includes a cocktail reception, auction and entertainment. Tickets are $200 and $500 for VIP status and can be purchased at www.gcapp.org/klute or by calling 404-475-6046 (Atlanta). Aside from The Darby, other event sponsors include Opici Wines and Stolichnaya.

The proceeds will benefit Fonda’s non-profit organization G-CAPP, which she founded in 1995 when Georgia had the highest teen birth rate in the nation.

Today, after experiencing a 37% decrease, it has dropped to the 13th highest. A proven leader in the field at both the state and national levels, G-CAPP reaches more than 30,000 teens, parents, families, health educators and youth to address one of Georgia’s toughest and costliest issues.
