The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) will be conducting a professional development institute (PDI) for counselors involved in military and veterans education counseling at the February 25-28 Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) Symposium at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront Hotel.
" We are working with NBCC to provide this PDI so that Counselors that would like training in helping military and veterans achieve their education goals, with special emphasis on vocational issues, have that opportunity at CCME" according to Jeff Cropsey, CCME Public Affairs Chair.
There will be no extra cost to Counselors who register for CCME. Additionally, the option of obtaining CEUs for the PDI is being explored. The PDI is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 27 February and will consist of four consecutive training sessions on topics related to counseling military and veterans, particularly in regards to transitioning to civilian life and gaining employment. Each subject will be taught by experts in their field selected by the NBCC.
Joycelyn Groot, CCME President, expressed her support by stating, "In the continuing tight fiscal times, this provides CCME attendees with further justification to participate in the symposium and received world-class training directly related to their jobs."
The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) 2013 symposium will be held in San Diego, California February 25-28 at The Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.
CCME, a not-for-profit organization, was founded 39 years ago to promote, encourage, and deliver quality education to service members and their families in all branches of the armed services. Its membership is principally composed of military educators, civilian educators, post-secondary educational institutions, and suppliers of quality education products and services. The CCME symposium is the largest annual forum in the country with an expected attendance of about 1000 participants. The annual symposium facilitates the networking and interaction of the key leadership across these organizations in an environment that is focused on enhancing and optimizing voluntary education opportunities for the service member and their families.
