The original Beer Re-Union in Lyons was a spontaneous gathering of a group of friends who had lost one of their own to a tragic motorcycle accident. Like many congregations of this sort, folks just needed folks to lean on. It was right around Denver's Great American Beer Festival time and some brewer friends showed up with amazing beer. We laughed and cried, told stories and all came away thankful that we had each other and thankful for the time that we had with our friend Kellner.
Kellner was a true original, a modern renaissance man. He was a family man who adored his wife and two small kids. His passions included travel, food, wine and great beer. Kellner was a trained sommelier, he loved to cook and was forever in search of the best this life had to offer. Kellner was also a loyal friend who always took the high road and would never leave a friend high and dry, he just always seemed to showed up. His cheerful, positive nature and unwavering friendship made him unique, a man’s man and so much more.
Inspired by Kellner’s life, the Beer Re-Union will again be a celebration of the good life and great friends. We’ll grease the wheels with some of the best beers and music this area has to offer. Participating breweries this year include Avery, City Star, Boot Strap, Upslope, Oskar Blues, Stone, Ska and Victory with a few surprises we don’t want to let out of the bag just yet. Music will be provided by some of the best local talent from the musically talent-rich Lyons area: Los Fear of Shrimp, featuring Ash Ganley and Terry Kishiyama.
