-- Three talented speakers from our local media community will share their experience and expertise as it relates to Electronic Media. Exposing students to professional leaders and real-life role models is an important feature of the learning process at St. Thomas University. They recognize that tomorrow’s leaders must possess the strong communications skills to manage complex social issues effectively. Dr. Andrea Campbell, Professor at St. Thomas University and Program Coordinator of the MA Communication Arts - Electronic Media Arts Specialization, explains the significance of Electronic Media into today’s media market. She states, “this area of study allows students to be creative problem solvers, critical thinkers and entrepreneurs who use technology in innovative ways in the ever-changing digital landscape and media industry.” October 10th 10:30 am Wednesday Topic: Content Pam Silva Conde, Co Anchor of Primer Impacto Univision, a six-time Emmy® Award winner for exemplary journalistic work. Mrs. Silva Conde will discuss broadcast journalism in the 21st century, writing for Spanish-language television news programming, reporting US News and World news, journalistic guidelines for Emmy® Award winning reporting and how effective social media is in staying connected with her audience and much more.
In 2006 she won her first Emmy award for on-camera talent, followed by three Emmy awards in 2007 for writing, news feature story, and human interest story. In 2009, she won her fifth Emmy® for a feature story about Facebook.com and was awarded her sixth Emmy® in 2010 for investigative special feature.

Production Barry Gordon, Director of MDC School of Entertainment & Design Technology and the Executive Director of the College’s broadcast television network, MDC-TV offers an insightful point of view on the subject of film production. Mr. Gordon will introduce the 3 production phases: pre-production, production, and post production, familiarity of film’s subject matter, casting, assembling the right production crew, and international production.
Mr. Gordon is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, where he heads one of the jury panels for the annual Emmy® Awards.
