19 September 2012 – Salisbury based Sharp & Noble today opened for business, specialising in vintage and bespoke upholstered furniture.

Run by husband and wife team Louise and Charlie Maidment, Sharp & Noble offers bespoke pieces, carefully restored in their village workshop.

"We are very excited to have launched the business and are looking forward to expanding our range further in the coming months. We are keen to offer traditional style furniture but with a contemporary twist through the beautiful range of fabrics we have access to " says Louise.

The couple wanted a name to match their Victorian inspired furniture. Sharp and Noble were said to be the names of Queen Victoria’s favourite collie dogs.

First product launch

The launch sees the arrival of a collection of bespoke storage footstools.

“We are delighted to launch with such unique pieces. A descendant of the common stool, the footstool has evolved throughout history. The footstool provided an alternative for a seated person whose feet were either unable to reach the floor or unwilling to rest on a draughty surface,” says co-founder Charlie Maidment.

“These days such stools are used for storage or decorative item, as well as a simple foot rest. A Sharp and Noble footstool can make a statement in any room and not many pieces that size can make such a claim,” he adds.

The upholstered storage footstool can be seen on the Sharp & Noble website in a range of contemporary velvet colours and also a selection of 100% wool fabrics. Available with or without an opening lid for storage, and lined with hessian, it is perfect to keep clutter out of sight.
