"Murders, Mystery and Mayhem" - A Truly Scary Hallowe’en Tour
Walking tour debunks “the most liveable city in the world” with tales of true crime.

Vancouver, BC September 25, 2012 – This October, thousands of curious locals will set out on a very different kind of walking tour - a stroll through Vancouver’s strangest stories, its grisliest murders and its most shocking unsolved crimes. Tour Guys (http://www.tourguys.ca/vancouver-tours/vancouver-tours/), Vancouver’s largest walking tour company, is re-launching their overwhelmingly popular “Murders, Mystery and Mayhem” tour on September 29.

“Murders, Mystery and Mayhem” is the brainchild of two East Van natives, Jessica O’Neill and Alasdair Butcher, passionate local historians who grew up on Commercial Drive and in Strathcona. Jessica explains how the tour came about. “I’d been guiding with Tour Guys for 2 years, and when (owner) Steve Woodall asked me to write a Hallowe’en tour, I was excited. But that quickly turned to disappointment when I realized how flimsy and fake most of Vancouver’s ghost stories are!”

The solution? A tour comprised of the really scary stuff - the true stories of crime and killings! Alasdair agrees. “I can’t think of a better way to send chills down the spines of Vancouverites than by exposing the seedy, dark underbelly of the city’s gruesome past - and present. We talk about things on this tour that no one else in the city will tell you about.”

The Tour Guys’ strategy worked - last year they guided over 2000 passengers on the tour, and this year they are expecting to double that number. Owner Steve was impressed. “I was blown away by the fascinating tour that these guys wrote, and the reviews on tripadvisor.com were phenomenal.” Guests agree - this tour explores a Vancouver that is more than natural beauty, tall glass towers and high property values - a Vancouver that has changed less than you’d think since its days as a rough and dirty mill town in the 1860s.

The 90 minute tour winds from the Vancouver Art Gallery to Blood Alley, taking an unexpected route that includes going down dark alleys, through eerily lit squares and even indoors to see a larger than life riot. This tour is fantastic for tourists and locals alike, and is best enjoyed by adults and youth over 12.
