-- Tucson film team Uphill Pictures is releasing the first episode of Wizard Hunters: The Series
on Thursday, September 27 as part of the Arizona Underground Film Festival (http://azuff.org (http://azuff.org))
. Wizard Hunters
was shot and produced exclusively in Tucson, using local actors and crew.
Inspired by fantasy films like Harry Potter
and Lord of the Rings
, Wizard Hunters
is a web series about Crystal, a young girl who discovers that she plays a vital role in a fantastical world of wizards, sorceresses, and vampires. Wizard Hunters
is an epic story told using action sequences and special effects.
The series was created by husband-and-
wife team Antonio Villagómez and Cori DiSimone of Uphill Pictures. The pair has experience creating commercial videos for Tucson businesses. Due to their passion for narrative filmmaking, they raised a small budget to begin the Wizard Hunters series. The first five episodes will be released on YouTube in the coming weeks. A corresponding mobile game app, “Wizard Hunters: The Game” is also in development.
With the profit from app sales and with an eventual Kickstarter campaign, Uphill Pictures hopes to produce more Wizard Hunters
episodes and create series merchandise.
