President Obama's budget will cut access and care unless reforms produce the required savings. Regardless, Medicare will implement automatic cuts of up to 27 percent to healthcare providers. These draconian cuts will force Medicare’s outdated reimbursement schedule to be reformed. Ultimately hospitals and doctors will stop or limit the amount of Medicare patients that they see to reduce their income losses. So, the more immediate danger to recipients is a decrease in choice and the number of providers in their area. This should concern all seniors who rely on Medicare in combination with an insurance carrier to provide their healthcare, regardless of whether they use Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna or other insurance provider to deliver their healthcare benefits.
Being fully informed on future events that will affect your healthcare and options to combat the negative impact of those changes is the best protection you have in an ever changing world to maintain your health.
