Bedminster, NJ – September 24, 2012 The Center for Contemporary Art is raising funds to replace its gallery carpeting with new hardwood flooring. The first phase of fundraising was through the online “crowd funding” website, indiegogo.com. Nearly $7,000 has been raised so far from eighty-nine donors with a goal of $12,500 needed to complete the project.
There are “perks” or rewards for different levels of support. For $10 donors receive a “con-temporary tattoo” while larger gifts yield some impressive rewards. For $75 donors can visit the studio of Long Valley artist Jim Toia who is well-known in Chelsea Gallery circles and has a new exhibit opening in October at the Kim Foster Gallery. For $150 donors can attend a lecture and meet-and-greet reception at The Center with living legend New Jersey painter Mel Leipzig who was featured in an NJN documentary that will be aired nationally this fall, and who will grace the cover of the November issue of “Professional Artist” magazine. Finally, for $250 donors are invited on a behind the scenes private tour of the home of a Somerset County collector of contemporary art.
Elie Porter Trubert, Executive Director stated, “We are very excited to be more than halfway to our fundraising goal and pleased to be able to offer “perks’ to our donors that give them special access to artists and unique art experiences.”
