Sept. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- London Business School recently started an incubator service for its entrepreneurial students that are looking to begin their own business after graduating. Universities have realised that classroom based learning is no longer enough. MBA students are very likely to start their own business and incubators are being set up to nurture them. London Business School has received an extremely positive response from this initiative and the school is looking to develop the programme. The incubator is run by the LBS career services and is supported by the Deloitte Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

One of the incubator’s businesses, SalesGossip won a top prize in the Royal Bank of Scotland EnterprisingU business plan competition.  The competition was presented by Find Invest Grow (FIG) and supported by RBS and LinkedIn. SalesGossip was founded by London Business School MBA alumni Zabetta Camilleri and Emilio Sanz.

SalesGossip is an online service that notifies shoppers about the latest fashion sales around them. With new sales being announced every day, SalesGossip aims to bring top high street names onto one platform. The website covers a range of sales including: pop-up sales, flash sales, student sales, and designer sample sales. Members can sign up for free and receive weekly emails featuring the best sales.

The EnterprisingU competition saw more than 1,300 entries with only 6 businesses making the cut. Each entrepreneurial business only received 10 minutes to present their plan and faced a Q&A session from the audience. The audience included 150 potential investors and press. SalesGossip reached the final stage and won a cash prize of £25,000. Publisher of Wired, Rupert Turnball said Zabetta was extremely engaging and passionate about the business. According to Turnball, SalesGossip is a “hugely scalable business” and is “everything a company should be today; social, mobile and hyperlocal.” Zanetta said the cash prize will go towards developing SalesGossip’s online and mobile presence.
