It is true that you can be your own worst enemy and at the same time, no one can motivate you like you can! You have to confident and have faith in your own ability. If you continuously doubt yourself, not only are you much less likely to achieve your goals but also other people will doubt you too. There is a line between confidence and cockiness and confidence is much more likeable so bear that in mind, but if you don’t believe in your own ability it is much more difficult convincing somebody else of it!
2. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
The Manager of Auctus Outsource takes great pride in the way he interacts with clients, colleagues and associates. You’re not always going to be of the same mind-set as everyone that you work with and it is healthy for rivalry to form in competitive workplaces. That said, the way you conduct yourself, and how you treat and speak to your associates is crucial to your success. The way you are around people in the workplace not only makes an impact on those directly involved, but on others who are observing you, particularly your peers and those who are able to help you.
3. Smiling is contagious.
As obvious and perhaps cheesy as it sounds, Auctus Outsource knows that a happy workplace is a better workplace! Positivity in the workplace is a great motivator and you are much more likely to have a productive day if you have started on a positive note! Positive thinking is great; if no one else is smiling why not be the first? Smiling is contagious after all! It is true that most of us will have our own problems or ‘goings on’ outside of work which can’t be helped. The last thing you want is for this to affect your work and add another problem to the list. Learn to compartmentalise your problems and when you’re at work use this time as almost an escape or time out. Thinking more positively at work is much more likely to filter into your personal life and perhaps make problem solving easier!
4. You get out what you put in.
If you want to be successful, you must be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals. You really do get out what you put in! Auctus Outsource recently compared business with the athletes training for the 2012 Olympics. It takes a lot to be a successful athlete; you need drive, ambition, a great work ethic and to appreciate that short term sacrifices need to be made to achieve the end result. They spend hours training, researching others and constantly trying to improve and although obviously they want to beat their competitors, they are constantly competing with themselves! These factors are transferable to the workplace and will contribute highly to your success. Think about it!
5. If you offer your help and advice to others, they are more inclined to offer help if you need it!
In business, as in life, there will always be areas that you excel in and others that you perhaps struggle with. This is where the importance of networking comes into play. If somebody asks you for help, help them! There will probably come a time when you’re the one who needs help, and people you have helped in the past rather than snubbed will be more inclined to offer a helping hand! It’s that simple! Remain humble, lose the ego and realise that sometimes two heads are better than one!
• Have faith in yourself if you expect others to follow! (…but don’t be cocky!)
• Treat others well if you expect them to treat you well and importantly, respect you.
• Remember to smile!
• If you really want something, give it your best and you will get the best results from it.
• Don’t turn away those who ask for help, it could come back to bite you in the future!
