Sept. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Many teens are angry at their Helicopter Moms and describe them as being way too controlling.  Instead of showing appreciation for the love their mothers are showering upon them; they want to have their cake and eat it too.  According to Carolyn Carter of Helicoptermamma.com, Helicopter Moms have an innate desire to control; however their initial instinct is to protect their children and keep them safe.  Unfortunately, teens are resentful towards their overprotective parents, especially if they hover too closely.

The term "helicopter parent" was originally coined by Foster W. Cline, M.D. and Jim Fay, in their 1990 book entitled, "Parenting with Love and Logic: Teaching Children Responsibility".   According to Cline and Fay, “like helicopters, mothers hover closely to their children, never being too far away or out of reach” (whether the child needs them or not).   The rise of the cell phone is often blamed for the explosion of helicopter parenting—University of Georgia professor Richard Mullendore called it "the world's longest umbilical cord".

Helicoptermamma.com is a platform, where Helicopter Moms can share their stories, while simultaneously receiving feedback from other parents and possibly psychologists in the field of behavioral science.  The site offers a range of articles, a daily blog, and an online store for those mothers, who are self-confessed Helicopter Moms.
