"Filler'up To Fuel The Fight Against Breast Cancer"

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 24, 2012 - It’s almost October again which means Halloween is just around the corner along with something much more important.  October has also become synonymous with pink ribbons and National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  One local business is teaming up with the brand new Mission Hope cancer center in Santa Maria, California in an effort to shine a brighter spotlight on the important message of breast cancer awareness.  Main Street Shell Service is a locally owned gas station, auto repair shop, and smog check facility in which has stepped up in the past to raise money for important causes.  From 2000 to 2006, this business donated more than $200,000 to medical research for the rare and debilitating disease known as Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) which affected 2 local girls in the California coastal community.  In 2006, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania announced a major discovery when they identified the gene responsible for causing this disease.

Main Street Shell Service will now try to ignite community involvement for another important cause by allowing customers to donate money by purchasing something they need anyway- gasoline.  The locally owned gas station will donate a penny per gallon of all gas and diesel purchases to the Mission Hope cancer center during the entire month of October.  This is the first of what is expected to be an ongoing annual event known as “Filler’up To Fuel The Fight Against Breast Cancer”.  This month long fundraiser will also feature a raffle drawing and a spin wheel on October 18th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Prizes for the drawing have been donated by a number of businesses including Culligan, Coca Cola, and Red Bull.  Raffle tickets are available for purchase inside the convenient store at Main Street Shell Service.  News and updates about this event will be available at www.mainstreetshell.com
