Sponsored by Bank of America, the Chicago Marathon has been around since 1972, and today it is the king of all foot races. All runners are welcome, and while there will certainly be some diehard runners in the race, amateurs should not feel dissuaded.
While city spectators may easily witness some of the best athletic feats they have ever seen on Chicago turf, this event is not reserved for just the racing elite. Instead, anyone can be a part of this amazing annual event, even as a beginner. Organizers recommend choosing to run as part of a Team Competition – that just means joining up with coworkers, family members, friends, or even bar mates, and choosing whether to run competitively, or non-competitively, as a team. The deadline for Team Registration is September 28th.

It’s flat, it’s fast, and it’s phenomenal to look at it – welcome back to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This October, runners will be pushing themselves to reach new personal bests, whether that means breaking a personal, national, or international records.
This scenic tour of Chicago will offer twenty aid-stations along the way, providing competitors with water, Gatorade G, restrooms, and a medical tent. Aid-Station 13 will also be designated as a CLIF Shot Energy Zone, offering shots of energy gels in various flavors.
Those who are not interested in running in public, which is understandable, are encouraged to still tune in to NBC 5 Chicago, or swing by in person, to cheer on the runners. Information Tents, McDonald’s runner update centers, and viewing areas at the CTA train stations will be great resources for observers, whether tracking the progress of an individual participant, a team, or just rooting for the whole competition.
