The Snug Kids program educates parents about which seats work best inside their vehicles, how to choose the correct one, and how to install them. Nissan vehicles are tested to the highest safety standards and recognized in American vehicle crash tests for their ability to keep drivers and passengers safe. Knowing how to keep children safe is critical knowledge to any parent who drives.

"Ten years ago Nissan made child passenger safety a priority and pioneered the Snug Kids program to help parents ensure the safety of their most precious cargo," the vice-president of Nissan North America, Bob Yakushi, said. To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the program, Nissan USA is planning an Oct. 5th event in Nashville, Tennessee to teach parents how to choose the right car seat and how to properly install it. There will also be technicians on site to check the integrity of the car seats that parents already own.

Most vehicle systems are built specifically for adults, such as seat belts and air bags, so children need special consideration when they are passengers. Because of their different body structure, children require special seats and arrangements until they reach a certain height and body weight. Knowing what kind of seat to get and where to place it is essential to guaranteeing a child’s safety during a ride. Automobile accidents are the leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 12. Properly using a vehicle child restraint reduces the mortality rate of infants by 71% and toddlers by 54%.
