That’s according to Kathleen Ward of The Kathleen Ward Health Clinic who has vast experience working with GAA stars over the past 28 years to ensure their longevity in sport such as Ryan Mellon of Tyrone.
Kathleen says, ‘working through pain barriers means you may have little discomfort but can be causing further damage so look after your health, look after your body as it is the only one you have got. We’ve enjoyed a full summer of sport with the Irish Olympians & Paralympians doing us proud too but this is where the challenge rests.’
Kathleen states that, ‘the professional athletes usually have access to a plethora of support, nutritionists, physiotherapists, trainers and doctors. But what about the less professional, the local team player or athlete? In many cases they are fortunate to have a trainer and this is where it stops due to fiscal limitations.’
