Bruce's publisher, Saga Books in Canada, just released the paperback version of Dragon Keepers IV on the last day of August. Goldwell and his publisher are hopeful that by giving away copies of DK IV that readers will want to catch up with the story once they read this fourth installment by ordering Books I,II and III. Goldwell began the series in 1996 and over the years has added additional books in the series. Dragon Keepers is a fantasy adventure of Merlin the Magician and in book one he is only 13 years old and he becomes an official dragon keeper. Merlin ages throughout the series and by the last book in the series he will be the older gray haired wizard that everyone knows him to be. In book four, Merlin becomes an official Magus which is the highest level of magician. As a Magus, he will gain even more magical powers that he will be able to use to help in defending against the evils he is faced with.
Adults as well as younger readers have also been enjoying the adventure with Merlin though the original intent when the series was started was writing for young readers and Goldwell's goal was to age the content of the books with each new release. Now the Dragon Keepers series has come of age and the stories target a more mature audience but can still be enjoyed by young readers too.
