Author Interested In Saint Patrick’s Church May Film Investigative Documentary In Watervliet Area

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 22, 2012 - Albany, NY – Author and Independent Filmmaker Jill Marie Morris has turned to the Internet in order to raise money for her film project, 207 – The Documentary. In an economy that is struggling to stay on its feet, Ms. Morris was advised to give the alternative funding source a try, considering how difficult it is for most independent artists and filmmakers to reach their goals. Kickstarter has afforded an innovative means for the filmmaking community to fulfill project budget needs.

Ms. Morris states that the concept is appealing, given the conditions that most filmmakers face. Acknowledging that, “It involves a great deal of work, sending e-mails, passing along the word and hitting social media fast and furious, but considering the options, it’s something that must at least be tried and given the effort.” Ms. Morris states that another enticing aspect about Kickstarter is the fact that the funding process allows project donations from all over the world. Donations begin at $1 and have a structured reward system to give film backers something for their generosity.

The documentary will merge both of Ms. Morris’ books. In her widely anticipated follow-up to 207, Saints Sinners and Sacred Ground will survey over three hundred and fifty years of both well and little-known history relative to the city of Watervliet. It will offer personal anecdotes of paranormal stories from residents of the city, discuss multiple case studies in the vicinity of 207 19th Street, Watervliet and the surrounding area, as well as highlight its tumultuous past and the religious upheaval that shaped the city beginning in the 18th Century, carrying over into the early 20th Century.

Ms. Morris also has particular interest in Saint Patrick’s Church, relative to the documentary. Most recently, the church has been a controversial issue among city residents due to a continued revitalization project in Watervliet. Ms. Morris states that, “Saint Patrick’s is a magnificent structure that lends so much history to the city. It would be terrible to see it swept away without some type of preservation. I have spent quite a bit of time researching it and given how much the church ties into both of my books, it is a focal point for my film.” Ms. Morris reiterated that even if the structure were torn down, she would include its fascinating history along with personal photos, in the film.

As Ms. Morris has often stated, Watervliet is one of the most 'haunted' towns she has ever visited - and has lived in. With the documentary she will also share additional experiences relative to 207 and lends insight and personal theory as to what continues to haunt some of the residents of the neighborhood to this very day.

Ms. Morris has stated, “My passion surrounding 207 - The Documentary is to address issues and create a dialogue, as well as bring peace to an area that has been splattered with the blood of many - most unmourned - over the course of three hundred plus years. Many whom have bore witness to such events, inclusive of my own, often remark that this incredible story needs to be shared with the general public, more so since additional information has come to light. Between my own experiences and what I have learned through the investigation and research, coincidence can no longer be applied as a descriptive term.”

Always leaving the interpretation up to the reader, Ms. Morris will draw widely criticized and debated discussion that will have many questioning the weight of that coincidence which seamlessly overlaps into the spirit world and merges the intriguing history of Watervliet, with the paranormal.

Ms. Morris believes in the spirit of giving back to the community. Although 207-The Documentary will be a for-profit film, she will be donating a portion of any future ticket sales equally between Domestic Violence and Suicide Prevention organizations, as she has been doing with her book sales from 207.

The film will be shot on location throughout Albany, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties, in addition to New York City, Ireland, Italy and France, which are all critical to giving the viewers a complete and accurate picture of the course of events that transpired through time. Each one plays a vital role in revealing a macabre past in the city’s history by which Ms. Morris, as well as many residents feel have resulted in decades of murder, multiple suicides and tragedy over three hundred year’s time.

If the film reaches its funding goal, filming will commence in early January 2013, with a wrap date anticipated for October 2013. At that time, 207-The Documentary will be submitted and shown at multiple film festivals with anticipation that it will be well received and create quite a buzz in the filmmaking community due to the emotional impact of the story, and information it will uncover.
