Do You Really Know How Healthy Your Heart Is?

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 21, 2012 - Several years ago a seemingly fit co-worker went in to get his eyes examined for some vision problems he was having.  The eye doctor noticed that he had cataracts and they decided to schedule cataract surgery as a next step.  No big deal he thought, cataracts happen and removing them is a fairly simple ordeal these days.  In order to schedule his cataract procedure he needed to get a physical.  

Fast forward 3 days, multiple tests, and numerous doctor visits later, he found himself in Rochester, MN, at Mayo Clinic having open-heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm that was discovered and was near rupture.  The doctors told him that the aneurysm was large enough that they felt they caught it within days of a life threatening issue.

Not wanting to put myself in that situation, I researched how one goes about checking your heart health and I ran across an ad from my local hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital.
