RiskMeter’s crime report is updated twice a year and is based upon FBI Uniform Crime Statistics (UCR) and demographic clustering to estimate crime rates for very small areas (census block groups). Insurance companies use these scores to evaluate potential crime losses.
RiskMeter’s crime report can return 10 crime scores, including an aggregate crime score, violent crime scores (murder, rape, robbery, assault) and property crime scores (burglary, larceny, vehicle theft). This information can be returned by simply typing in an address or uploading a book of business.
One of the main benefits of RiskMeter’s crime report is that it not only returns crime scores for the address entered, but it also returns scores for the surrounding area (0.5 & 2 mile radii). This extra data will enable insurers to gain more insight into crime levels for the neighborhoods surrounding a policy, as well as identify high risk areas prior to instituting coverage on residential and commercial property.
