Follow on Google News | ILA Port Strike - 90 Day PostponementSummary of the ILA Port Strik Postponement and how it will impact trade.
By: Star USA The extension sets the new expiration date to December 29, 2012, at which point an agreement between the labor union and the port managers will need to be finalized in order to avoid any further work stoppage. This postponement allows the US East Coast and Gulf ports to continue operations as normal through the upcoming holiday season, negates any impending "Port Congestion Surcharges" set to take effect in the event of a work stoppage, and importantly, provides more time and opportunity to plan for any routing and production alternatives involving US imports and exports through the affected ports. Please contact the International Trade Team if there are any questions or concerns. Otherwise, we will continue to monitor the situation and notify of any impending developments while we continue to evaluate potential contingency plans. Remember, at Star USA INC, your problem is OUR problem. End
