PRLog - Sep. 20, 2012 - CHICAGO -- Hot rod enthusiast, former Windy City Roller girl and Chicago native, Kate Sanderson, has found yet another medium to express her creativity. Media Designer by day, she returns to the studio in her elaborately self-decorated, retro-style home, to her true love: handcrafting her own line of bags and accessories, branded Sink or Swim.
“I actually got started by making my dog a collar. I had excessive glitter vinyl lying around the house from a previous project and decided to make a collar for her. After I received a lot of compliments, I had an idea and decided that I needed to take the leap towards what I love whether I succeeded or failed, or in better words, ‘sink or swim,’” says Sanderson.
After less than a year, she has found herself designing and sewing a line of handbags, staying true to her self-proposed pact to keep everything locally handmade and of the highest quality. From a simple dog collar, to a Chicago flag inspired, neighborhood-
Wicker Park’s rock boutique, Broken Cherry, instantly loved the style and quality of the retro-style bags and has picked up the line to sell in-store. With the “Hero Collection,”
Sink or Swim products can be found exclusively in various, hand-selected, Chicago-based retail locations by January, 2013, or online at www.shopsinkorswim.com.
About Sink or Swim
Sink or Swim is a privately-owned, hand-crafted brand based in Chicago, IL, founded in October, 2011. Due to quick growth and a highly-demanded product, Sanderson moved production from her in-home studio, to a local textile manufacturer, located at Ogden and Pulaski, where all products remain to be hand-crafted and stitched.
