PRLog - Sep. 21, 2012 - MP Fiona Bruce used a traditional pair of scissors to snip a ribbon on a computer screen to officially mark the launch of Cloud Utilities, the new ‘cutting-edge’ cloud computing service from Congleton-based IT specialists 1st Easy.

The Conservative MP for Congleton, whose audience at the Riverside Mill event included 1st Easy directors Stephen and Viv Bell and the Mayor of Congleton, Councillor Sally Ann Holland, said the company was a ‘Flagship business for Congleton’.

She added: “Businesses like this don’t just happen; they take dedication, hard work and financial sacrifice. What you have done Steve, really is what it takes to make a successful business.

“I am thrilled to be here. The launch of Cloud Utilities is exciting for Congleton and for me. This is just the sort of new business that this country needs if we are going to solve the economic challenges we face.”

Mrs Bruce then joined an audience that included David Watson, chief executive officer of the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, members of staff from the Buglawton HQ of 1st Easy and senior representatives of IT companies from across the UK,  to listen to a talk by founder and Managing Director Stephen Bell.

The former air traffic engineer, turned IT expert, who has worked with some of the major international names in information technology, including IBM and Sun Microsystems, decided to set up 1st Easy in 1999 with his wife Viv, now Finance Director.

He told his audience: “Eighteen months ago 1st Easy laid out its technology road map for the next five years. A key part of this plan was the inclusion of cloud technology. The launch today has been the culmination of that vision.”

Stephen said he was convinced that cloud computing would become a utility service like gas, electricity and telephones where businesses could buy-in the computer services they needed as and when they required them rather than invest in hardware and software.

“Cloud computing gives businesses the agility to do what they need to do, when they need to do it and from where they need to be,” added Stephen. “Cloud is about business agility.”

Mrs Bruce added: “As they say in the TV series ‘The Office’, there is no ‘I’ in team. But if you look hard enough you can find a ‘Me’.  Because every business needs a leader – and Steve you are one! I offer my congratulations to 1st Easy on this launch.”
