Mira Telecom granted EU funding for research which will ground new security products

MIRA TELECOM started a nanotechnology research, which will ground the development of new security products in its private R&D center located in Joița (Giurgiu county).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 20, 2012 - The project called “Advanced detection of low frequency mechanical vibrations” (DAVME) is worth 11,235 Euro and benefits from EU funding worth around 10,000 de Euro, through the National Research, Development and Innovation Programme  II (PNCDI II) 2007- 2013.

The research will be carried in partnership with the Center for Surface Science and Nanotechnology of Bucharest Polytechnic University (CSSNT), that has the necessary experience in microscopy based on atomic forces and will asses the development by MIRA TELECOM of a catilever based sensor. The sensor is capable to distinguish the vibrations generated by a person in movement, from other vibration sources and can be integrated in  high sensitivity and high fidelity equipment.

The project is based on a research carried by MIRA TELECOM, according to which there is an extremely low commercial offer for vibration sensors, capable to distinguish various vibration sources and isolate the vibration produced by a person in movement.  The company aims at developing security products which will integrate this sensor, for beneficiaries such as the Border Police, the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) and critical infrastructure operators.

DAVME started in July 2012 and will be completed in December 2012. The results of the project count a scientific report which will ground the development of a prototype in around 2 years from the project completion, a prototype which will later result in a security product; approach of new consumption markets with needs based on this sensor;  an innovative techology which will be applied both in the security field and in other fields, such as the medical field; creation of 5 new  jobs.

“ MIRA TELECOM’s development strategy has among its main objectives the development of the research activity in order  to increase the production capacity of complex, integrated  systems, able to satisfy at the highest technological level, the communication and security needs of the national defense and security system. DAVME ranges very well in this strategy and can be successfully applied in our research center in  Joița, which will become operational in 2013 .” said  Stelian Ilie, President of MIRA TELECOM.

About PNCDI II:
