We forget the basics. We know the distance from our home to our office, approx 20-50 miles on an average but in Japan people barely use their vehicles on a weekday because they have a well connected subway & bulllet train network iin Japan. Parking is expensive so they have to rent parking space near work which costs around $1000 per month. Moreover shaken requirements ( Shaken here means vehicle registration)
Therefore it is clear that we all drive around 40,000-50,000 miles in a year in the U.S compared to weekend driving with minimal of driving on weekdays plus they discontinue driving after 5 years max results in vehicles with low mileage Engines & Transmissions.
Bottomline is engines from Japan are the lowest mileage and better quality than used engines available in United States. This is a fact.
Pros & Cons: We already spoke about the pros of buying a Japanese engine but the cons are minimal. Since Japanese Engines were made for vehicle produced by Honda, Toyota, Nissan etc in Japan for that market, there are some minor changes required. The most important and significant one is to change intake & exhaust manifold to the one from U.S from old engine in order to pass emissions. In some other motors for example Toyota Camry engine Japan had more 3SFE 2.0 ltr engine while U.S had 5SFE for Camrys, although both these engines are same but it is required to adjust engine mount bracket.
The last step is to find the best importer of Japanese engines who understands pulse of an engine. Find the one who tests every mechanical aspect of the Japanese Engine, we recommend http://www.usedjapanmotors.com
Hope we all understand now that only Japanese Engines imported from Japan offer good value for money since they last long !
