Linpop - Lincolnshire - Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP)

Sept. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- A wireless Internet service provider (WISP) is an Internet service provider with a network based on wireless networking.

Technology may include commonplace Wi-Fi wireless mesh networking, or proprietary equipment designed to operate over open 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9, 5.2, 5.4, 5.7, and 5.8 GHz bands or licensed frequencies in the UHF band (including the MMDS frequency band).

LINPOP provide emergency cover for Lincs FM live coverage during the Lincolnshire show.

A failure of the other network suppliers saw LINPOP fit an emergency link through to the 100ft portable mast used to provide broadband service to the visitors to the Lincolnshire show. The 100ft mast was linked into the LINPOPs mesh network provided for broadband and other service supplied from LINPOPs Ingham Mast.

WIFI hot spots on the sites from Duckworth and other stands for were available, over the link with many users
taking advantage of the 5 minute free usage with their smart phone and other laptop devices.Car dealers on site signed up for the two day usage to allow finance deals and other corporate information to be accessed from central offices at the showground for the two day event.

The LINPOP WIFI and Broadband service is now available for other local events and village functions within the LINPOP coverage areas, as the roll out plan for north Lincolnshire picks up momentum.

This Lincolnshire Show was deemed a success producing great interest to villages and local communities who are now desperate to gain a quality broadband service.
