Aplicom sets new standards for the next generation of telematics hardware

Sept. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- The A9 was developed out of Aplicom’s most popular product – the A1 – that service providers, system integrators, and end-users have been using successfully for years. The new product is more compact, smaller, and lower priced than the A1.

Highly reliable even in demanding environments
Aplicom A9 has been developed for advanced telematics applications where high data reliability is important. It provides precise GPS tracking to record and transmit data to monitor vehicle positions, driving, and mileage. With its two-processor architecture, built-in battery, and alarm system, the A9 ensures reliable operation even in critical situations, like when GPRS communication fails because of weak signals or dead zones. The internal back-up battery allows continued operation even in case of voltage fluctuation or if main input power is cut off. In numerous tests, Aplicom devices have been proven to operate reliably even under difficult environmental conditions such as extreme temperature changes.

Flexible and future-proof
In addition to its high reliability, the A9 also provides future-proof functionality. Customers can easily integrate new, enhanced features into the system at a later date via an OTA update. The configuration options are unlimited and therefore it can also be used in a complex environment. Digital and analogue inputs, accelerometer, pulse meter, 1-wire, CAN, and CAN-based OBD II connectors and an optional COM port are also available.
A9 provides a 1-wire connection for driver identification and connection to a 3-button keypad, which enables use of the A9 as an electronic logbook. The odometer leads the market in terms of accuracy. Geofencing for pre-definable restricted areas, locations with status triggers, alarm zones, and functions to monitor drivers and record distances and working time are also available. Its versatile applications, compact size, and attractive cost/performance ratio make the A9 an attractive telematics unit for all types of vehicles and industries. The new product will be sold through Aplicom’s partner network.
