FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 19, 2012 - New York, NY – Independent filmmaker Jill Marie Morris has turned to the Internet in order to raise enough money for her film project, 207 – The Documentary. In an economy that is struggling to stay on its feet, Ms. Morris was advised to give the alternative funding source a try, considering how difficult it is for most independent artists and filmmakers to reach their goals. Kickstarter.com has afforded an innovative means for the filmmaking community to fulfill project budget needs.

Kickstarter.com has a specific set of guidelines by which all project creators, including Ms. Morris, must adhere to. Given up to 60 days maximum to reach their goal, the site is an “all or none” funding opportunity that sets a course for a nerve-racking run. Ms. Morris has chosen the option to open her funding window for the full 60 days, by which the clock starts today.

With a funding goal of $840,000.00 to reach by no later than November 18th, 2012, should the funds not meet the deadline, the donations are cancelled and refunded to the Backers. With this “all or none” funding approach, all initial donations are put into a holding account until one of two things transpires: the project goal is met, by which the funds are then issued to Ms. Morris, or returned to the donors. Noteworthy, is the fact that even a $10 goal deficit at the deadline will result in a closed, non-funded project.

Ms. Morris states that the concept is appealing, given the conditions that most filmmakers face. Acknowledging that, “It involves a great deal of work, sending e-mails, passing along the word and hitting social media fast and furious, but considering the options, it’s something that must at least be tried and given the effort.” Ms. Morris states that another enticing aspect about Kickstarter.com is the fact that the merchant partner for Amazon.com is utilized in the funding process and allows project donations from all over the world.

Relative to 207 – The Documentary, it promises to be a nail-biting, shocking and inspiring film, steeped in controversy surrounding the city’s nefarious history. Based upon her first book 207: A Personal Account of Love Paranormal Phenomenon and Demonic Possession, and her upcoming follow-up, Saints Sinners and Sacred Ground, it will detail personal, tragic and true-life experiences that she endured while living in Upstate New York in the late 1980’s.

As Ms. Morris states, “Watervliet, New York is beyond a single doubt, one of the most active, paranormal hotspots in the United States – and I have a good idea as to why. Through the film, I hope to provide answers and insight, as well as bring some type of closure and sense of peace to the immediate neighborhood that surrounds 207’s lot.”

Ms. Morris will describe the circumstances surrounding the horrific tragedy she and her then eight-month-old son barely survived. The heroic efforts of Ms. Morris’ mother adds a stunning element to the documentary, as well as her investigative case studies, historical research and interviews with Watervliet community members, who share oddly similar stories.

The film will be shot on location throughout Albany, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties, in addition to New York City, Ireland, Italy and France, which are all critical to giving the viewers a complete and accurate picture of the course of events that transpired through time. Each one plays a vital role in revealing a macabre past in the city’s history by which Ms. Morris, as well as many residents feel have resulted in decades of murder, multiple suicides and tragedy over three hundred year’s time. With a staff of eight, including Videographers, Sound Technicians, Production Assistants, a Historical Consultant and Financial Manager, 207's staff is eager to get things rolling.

If Ms. Morris reaches her funding goal, filming will commence in early January, with a wrap date anticipated for October 2013. At that time, 207-The Documentary will be submitted and shown at multiple film festivals with anticipation that it will be well received and create quite a buzz in the filmmaking community due to the emotional impact of the story, and information it will uncover.
