During the month of September, Rockstart startups will be working out of Rocket Space, networking with venture capitalists, angel investors, and other startups, including mentorship sessions at Mozilla, Google, Blackbox, and the Dutch Consulate.
All Rockstart startups have completed an intensive six-month program, designed to help them focus on design, engineering, product development, team building, and distribution of their software products. Upon completion of the six-month program, Rockstart startups made their European debut in Amsterdam at a Demo Day session held June 15, 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/
Amsterdam is a unique place for startups because of its high concentration of engineering and design talent combined with a culture that has a long-standing artistic and creative history. A vibrant startup community is growing in Amsterdam fueled by its own creative culture (e.g. Appsterdam) and Silicon Valley influences, such as Hackers & Founders, Lean Startup Circle – just to name a few. A new renaissance of technology entrepreneurship is emerging out of Amsterdam and it is becoming an ideal place for entrepreneurs to launch their startups.
Come join us on September 20th at Rocket Space, to get a glimpse of what’s on the horizon for European startups and innovation. The event will feature a demonstration of the Rockstart startups followed by a Q&A panel session with renowned European entrepreneurs Guillaume Decugis (France) who successfully grew and sold Musiwave for $125 millions. Guillaume is today the co-founder & CEO of Scoop.it. Second panelist is David Helgason (Iceland), co-founder & CEO of Unity Technologies. David helped grow the company from 3 founders to more than 200 people across 13 different offices, and to be used by more than 1M developers, an estimated 53% of mobile game developers, and across thousands of companies and dozens of industries. Unity is backed by Sequoia Capital alongside several other VCs". The focus of the Q&A panel will be trends and developments in global entrepreneurship and the future of the startup ecosystem in Europe. Attendees will get a bird’s eye view from the perspectives of entrepreneurs, investors, and journalists covering global and European entrepreneurship trends and developments.
