Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Libraries and schools just got access to more books as publisher Boutique of Quality Books (BQB) today announced their collaboration with OverDrive electronic book distribution. This announcement was made as the nation’s literary community prepares for the National Book Festival held in Washington, DC.

As kids come back into the nation’s classrooms carrying their laptops, smart phones, and electronic tablets, schools can prepare by using the easily downloaded electronic versions of books. Libraries also can increase their book selections quickly and cost-effectively by using the increasingly popular electronic versions of books.

Currently, thousands of libraries throughout the United States and around the world offer readers vast collections of popular eBooks and audiobooks compatible with all major eReading devices, including iPad®, Nook®, and Kindle®. With more than two-thirds of US public libraries participating in the OverDrive network, more than 87 percent of the US population has access to eBooks and audiobooks via OverDrive. Worldwide, readers checked out more than 34 million eBooks and audiobooks with OverDrive in the first half of 2012—more than double 2011’s totals.

Now schools can search the BQB offerings for eBooks geared toward their students. The online catalog can be found at http://shop.boutiqueofqualitybooks.com/. There are books for every age group, with several written for children, and even a couple written by children, like Cody Jackson, America’s nine-year-old One Boy USO. Additionally, for the older students, there are thought provoking books tackling social issues that are great foundations for classroom discussions. For instance a North Carolina teacher said of Forgiving Waters, by Kenneth Capps, “This book embodies strong social themes that are important for our young people to discuss and consider from different perspectives. It shows how real adults act in tough situations even as they pass racism and bullying through generations. I’m hoping the students get more out of reading this book and can relate it to their own actions and decisions. It gives them the opportunity to step back and evaluate from a different perspective. One young lady began with the attitude that she hated books, now she is anxious to see what happens next. That says quite a lot about the quality of Capps’ message,” concluded the teacher.
