September 26, 2012, 7:00 p.m.
Rassela’s Jazz Club on Fillmore

San Francisco, CA: NoPA+ and the Divisadero Merchants Association will host a debate between District Supervisor candidates designed to get past the talking points and garner pointed responses to specific questions that are important to the community. The debate is designed to bring together a cross section of merchants, community leaders, residents and neighbors from the NoPA, Alamo Square and Western Addition areas.
Tony Wilkins, well-known Bay Area San Francisco-based radio host and author, will moderate the debate. Wilkins will stream the debate live on his Internet show “Small Business Forum Radio,” – www.blogtalkradio.com/tonywilkins – to reach a wide audience of San Francisco voters. The event will be interactive and promises to be a great opportunity to bring together the neighborhoods and communities covered by District 5.
Participating in the debate will be incumbent Christina Olague and candidates London Breed, Julian Davis, John Rizzo, Thea Selby, Daniel Everett, Hope Johnson and Andrew Resignato. Topics to be discussed include community identity, condo conversion and affordable housing, small business taxes, commercial zoning, Sunday parking meters and bike lanes and policies.
This debate is completely non-partisan; no candidates will be endorsed at this event. It is free and open to everyone.
The two host organizations represent a wide variety of businesses and residents located in District 5. The Divisadero Merchants Association hosts the Divisadero Art Walk; NoPA+ brings businesses together who want to support the community. Both groups have an ear on the street, hearing community issues first hand.
