With many assuming that a model's career is short lived, restricted to their teens and early twenties, we know this is simply untrue - some models are lucky enough to have a timeless look that guarantees them work year after year.
One such lady is the incredibly chic mature model Carmen Dell'Orefice, who once again proved that she still has what it takes having taken to the catwalk twice in one day at New York Fashion Week.
The 81-year-old style icon, famous for being one of the industry's oldest working models, looked as elegant as ever as she modelled a vintage-esque dress for Norisol Ferrari in the morning, and later modelled a bolder, more modern dress for Marimekko.
Discussing her career in front of the camera, the gray-haired, sveltely figured model told Today: "I don't know if it's good or silly. It's what I enjoy doing, and I'm able to do it.
"I think America may be growing up and accepting the fact that the bulk of life exists beyond 50. Because demographically...the vast population is over 50."
President of the model agency representing Dell'Orefice, Corinne Nicolas, also told Today: "I see our young models who will look at her and be mesmerised by her. She's an idol."
Thankfully, the real, relatable and diverse look that Dell'Orefice is helping promote no longer seem a rarity.
