Kiddie Create set up their mobile craft centre with tables and chairs, and the children are provided a small craft pack. Along with a theme for the pack, they then go ahead and create their own masterpiece. Items in the pack may include pipe-cleaners, pom poms, googly eyes, various buttons, silk wallpaper squares, gorgeous papers, and vintage playing cards. The theme changes regularly, therefore the contents vary, so each new pack is a surprise for the child.
Each Pop Up Club has a different theme, and previous themes for the clubs have included “farmyard life”, “flowers” and “robots”. This club will have the theme “Peg People” and the purpose of this craft workshop is to introduce mums to Artkive.
Artkive allows parents to chronologically store children’s artwork in only a few seconds through the app on their iPhone (the Android app which will be available shortly). This artwork can then quickly and easily be turned into various items like picture books, calendars and coffee cups.
At this Pop Up Club at Victoria Gardens, mums will be encouraged to add Kiddie Create into their ‘share circle’ on the app. This then allows all artwork to be shared in the Kiddie Create online community as mum takes pictures of kid’s art projects.
When asked what gave Belinda the inspiration to launch Kiddie Create, she said “We thought we would take the ‘art of gifting’ idea and keep it innovative by sending out parcels full of surprises of art and craft projects for kids! We also wanted mums to get involved through the POP UP idea. Mums LOVE discounts and an excuse to get out!”
The prices of the packs are very affordable at $6.50 and parents have the option to subscribe to Kiddie Create and receive new packs each week at a reduced rate. No bookings are required at the Pop Up club, so parents can just Pop Up with their kids and get into the crafty fun.
