Drivers all over Canada have been eagerly anticipating the release of the 2013 Honda Accord, and that’s no surprise. The 2013 edition will herald the vehicle’s ninth generation and, like its predecessor, will be available as either a sedan or a coupe. Both models will retain the spaciousness of past Accords, though the sedans exterior will be more compact, which, together with aesthetic touches like sweeping rear taillights and large exhaust finishers, contribute to a sportier appearance than past editions. And since the more compact exterior means that the vehicle will weigh less, drivers will benefit in the form of improved driving dynamics and tighter handling.
Perhaps even more exciting than the aesthetic refinements is the debut of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology in the two available powertrains. This will mark the first North-American experience of Honda’s lauded direct-injected 2.4L four-cylinder engine, as well as a more powerful 3.5L V6. The latter will be the first of Honda’s sedan’s to feature the automaker’s new six-speed automatic transmission.
Technology will also be a strong point. Honda’s Eco Assist system will give drivers feedback designed to promote a more efficient driving style. The vehicle will also feature an ECON mode, which will make the vehicle more efficient with a single button press. Some of the other features include Bluetooth compatibility and safety options such as lane departure and forward collision warnings.
It should come as no surprise that the Accord has been named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best list 26 of 28 times — a record. The 2013 Honda Accord is set to take up the mantle and improve upon an already-groundbreaking vehicle. Sun Valley Honda will have this car in stock soon, and drivers can learn more by visiting their dealership in Medicine Hat.
