The closed-loop prepaid market continues to grow and make up the lion's share of the
prepaid market as a whole, changing as new technology and new providers enter the
market. The growth of smartphone use and mobile wallets will likely further push the
growth of closed-loop cards as they become easier for consumers to use and manage.
Closed-loop segments showing major changes include digital media, games and ringtones,
employee and partner incentives, consumer incentives, and in-store gift.
