“Most insurance companies may be reluctant to cover special events due to their nature, consumers can make it easy to receive coverage by doing some simple things,” Hursh said earlier today in his office in Katy, Texas.
He said the first thing Texas Outdoor Insurance tells its clients is to sit down and make a complete list of the items or situations they need to obtain coverage for.
“Texas Outdoor Insurance is one of the few agencies in this area that has the experience to help consumers obtain quality special events insurance. What we find is that most consumers who walk in through the door are not prepared to answer some basic questions,” Hursh said.
“Consumers need to know how many guests they are expecting at the event, for example. Events could include weddings, graduations, football games, Little League sporting events or other events. Without knowing how many people you expect to come in, it is impossible to get the right coverage,” he said.
Hursh said consumers who do not know answer to this basic question always end up buying more or less insurance than they need.
“Buying more or less insurance than you need is not good. When you buy more insurance than you need, you waste money. Buy less and you will find out that your coverage is inadequate,”
The Texas Special Events Insurance executive said consumers also needs to talk to knowledgeable agents before settling on a particular policy or insurance provider.
“As we all know, all insurance agencies or companies are not the same. When looking for specialized insurance policies, it is important to talk to an agent with the knowledge and experience in that area. Walking into just any agency will not do,” he said.
