PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 18, 2012 - Comedy web series “Hipsterhood,” from creator Shilpi Roy, has been well received by viewers and press during its first few episodes, with thousands of YouTube views and features on the Huffington Post, USA Today, Film Independent, and local news station NBC LA. The fifth episode in the nine-episode series premieres today at http://www.hipsterhoodseries.com.

The series will also be screening at Web Series Unplugged on Wednesday, September 19th at El Cid Restaurant in Los Angeles, at 8:00pm.

SERIES SUMMARY

“Hipsterhood” revolves around two hipsters who constantly run into each other around Silver Lake, but can’t seem get to the next level of talking. The series is 90% voice over, showcasing their hilarious inner dialogue. The result is a comical courtship composed of awkwardly silent interactions between the two. Each episode of “Hipsterhood” centers around a different location in Silver Lake.

THE CREATOR

Shilpi Roy, the writer/director/producer of the series, is an award-winning filmmaker who has worked for companies such as Brave New Films and PlayboyTV. Cinematographer Anthony C. Kuhnz has over 100 short films, music videos, and feature films under his belt. Both Roy and Kuhnz live in Silver Lake, and together form Odd Frames Media.

“When we were featured in USA Today, Huffington Post, and NBC LA in our opening week, I ran into a quandary: had Hipsterhood literally gone mainstream now that we’d been shouted out to all of America? Was there anything I could do to retain street cred with the hipsters in my neighborhood? I began apologizing for the publicity to my hipster friends, but they hadn’t actually heard of Hipsterhood yet, so I was in luck – it was still cool.” – Shilpi Roy

CAST

The series stars accomplished actors Kit Williamson and Elizabeth Ferraris. Williamson has appeared in numerous TV, film, and theatre productions, including the Tony-nominated revival of “Talk Radio” on Broadway. He also co-hosts Zurvived, a zombie apocalypse webcast. Ferraris studied acting at the University of Southern California. She has been featured in many independent films, music videos, and web series.
