PRLog - Sep. 17, 2012 - CALERA, Ala. -- Birmingham, November 3rd, 2012: A successful Kickstarter campaign this August raised over $8,000 for Terry Strickland to print her first art book, The Incognito Project. The initial goal for the campaign was exceeded in the final days of the fundraising drive. The final product, a 9x12”, full-color, hard-covered, limited-edition book, chronicles the two- year portrait series by Birmingham Artist, Terry Strickland. It features high-resolution details of the art as well as written reflections on the subjects.
Strickland has been a fixture of the Birmingham Art scene since 2005. Her oil paintings and drawings have been featured in a number of high profile art publications, including American Art Collector and The Artist’s Magazine. Her latest series, The Incognito Project, began in 2010 with a party for the models, asking them to come dressed up in a costume that revealed something about themselves, be it an alter-ego or a secret desire.
The twenty-five finished portraits will be on display at the Art Folk Gallery at the Young & Vann Building (1731 First Avenue North) in Birmingham on November 3rd. The exhibition starts at 5:00 PM and will end with the raffle of a 2005 Terry Strickland still life, Daydreams: Some Other Self at 9:00 PM. Entries in the raffle can be earned by purchasing a copy of The Incognito Project book at the event.
