David L. Kagan, Marketing Manager
Newton, MA—September 17, 2012—Now that it's been around almost 20 years, nobody would flinch at the assertion that most Americans surf the web daily. But convincing people that parents are tuning into their preschooler's progress via the web might be a bit surprising. Could the day of the parent-teacher conference be almost over?
Certainly not, opines Internet entrepreneur David Diamond, of Newton MA. He raised his four children before the Internet, and his wife Leslie, a preschool teacher, also loves the personal approach with families. But it was her laments about unread newsletters for preschool parents that led her to ask her software-savvy husband to “write something” so she could send her classroom parents their newsletters online, along with photos. Now, four and a half years later, Mr. & Mrs. Diamond are presiding over a jewel of a business, which enables online communications between parents and directors in schools throughout the United States and in the Bahamas, and is growing every day.
MyClassroomConnection is an eco-friendly, web-based tool for teachers and school directors to communicate with preschool families. It's so good, that it's also being used for elementary schools, condo associations and religious schools as well.
"I cannot not say enough good things about this wonderful website. I've been using it for three years now and it has not only been a very helpful tool for parents, but turns out to be a great selling point for potential clients to my Montessori Toddler Program. My current clients love that they get to see photos of their children "working" in the Montessori classroom. I also post my newsletters, so parents can learn the songs, stories and poems that their toddlers are learning. This easy-to-use website is so helpful for posting Parent-Teacher conference sign-ups or Potluck Picnic sign-ups."
"As a parent educator, I have also found it helpful in posting relevant articles or news information, that includes, discipline, potty training or nutrition. Great way to keep parents informed and avoid the "chatting" at pick-up time dilemma. It's so easy to use and upload photos and make edits. Several of my friends with in-home programs are using and loving MyClassroomConnection."
"I am so happy. If I weren't so busy I would write more!"
—Terese Bradshaw, Directress and Founder, Montessori Preschool, Novato, CA
As the company grows, it reaches out further in the educational world. It now employes five part or full time staff, and the company attends frequent industry events such as the upcoming conference in Rhode Island run by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
While the company is still small and private, the positive response by so many education professionals and parents has David and Leslie Diamond dreaming of a day when a majority of preschools the world over can take advantage of the system that saves time, improves communications, and helps the environment for preschools across the U.S.
