PRLog (Press Release) -
Sep. 17, 2012 - Premier aerospace industry publication Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine features Epner Technology on the cover of the September double issue, “Innovation:
The Power of Small Companies.” Aviation Week Chief Editor, Anthony L Velocci Jr. wrote the feature article on Epner Technology. In addition to discussing Epner Technology’s recent projects that include both laser gold and laser black plating for NASA’s upcoming Magnetospheric MultiScale Mission (MMS) and gold plating on titanium for the US Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Velocci’s article, like the double issue in which it appears, connects small business and the power of innovation.
David Epner, president of the hundred-year-
old technology company, says that the size and structure of his business contribute to its position in its industry. Epner Technology’s “three greatest strengths are the synergy that comes from close interaction with the technical team, the opportunity to pursue technically challenging work, and keeping an open mind… [they are] key to our success and sustain a culture of innovation.”
About the choice to feature Epner Technology on the cover of the magazine, Mr. Velocci says “the profile of Epner Technology was as much in the spirit of our special focus on small innovative companies as any single enterprise featured in the report. Epner, like its president, is one of a kind.”
The special small business issue complements coverage of a similar theme in a recent New York Times article: “instead of industrial giants, Brooklyn has niche factories.” Epner Technology has been one of these niche companies for more than four decades.
Founded in 1910 and still under third-generation family management, Epner Technology’s world renowned Laser Gold infrared reflective coating had been the NIST standard for more than 20 years. Epner Technology specializes in plating difficult substrates including molybdenum, titanium and beryllium as well as dielectrics such as Ultem, Teflon, Torlon, Ryton and ceramics.
