Celebrations of Peace, Food, Wine Top Things to Do This Weekend in Little Italy, Cleveland, OH

Sept. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The Montessori School at Holy Rosary in Little Italy, Cleveland Ohio, is taking an active part in International Peace Day this Friday, September 21.  

Beyond projects and activities in class that will center around peace and its important impact internationally, a reinforcement of what is already part of the daily tenets in this diverse school, the students will don their signature blue and orange school t-shirts and head out into the neighborhood for a cleanup project throughout Little Italy.

"It's important to give our students opportunities to actively participate in acts of service.  It's is through the actual doing that they feel a sense of pride and commitment to the community in which they belong.  We feel these are the foundations of living peacefully together," says Tina Schneider, the school director.

The community is invited to join the students at a gathering in the Holy Rosary Churchyard, 12009 Mayfield Road, Cleveland,  at 3:00pm on Friday for a celebration of peace through songs and presentations. Councilman Kevin Conwell will speak, and the event will end with an ice cream social.

On Sunday, September 23, 3:00 - 7:00pm the 15th Annual Taste of LIttle Italy, a food and wine tradition under the September skies in Little Italy will take place in the Holy Rosary Churchyard, 12009 Mayfield Road.

Guest can sample food from over 40 of Cleveland's best Italian restaurants and taste over 200 wines while enjoying live entertainment, auctions, and a raffle for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip for two to Italy. Raffle tickets are $10 each, and you need not be present to win the trip to Italy. Raffle tickets are available for purchase online, or at the event.

This year's auction items include exciting packages such as:

-- A limited edition of The Kardiac Kids book by Don Cockcroft signed by 30 players and coaches from the 1980 Cleveland Browns team.

Tickets to the event are $70 in advance, and $75 at the door. The ticket includes all-you-can eat and drink, a souvenir wine glass, event program, musical entertainment, and opportunities to bid on auction items.
