Industry peers from top natural gas and electric utilities will teach this two-day, comprehensive, fast-paced seminar. Presented by the American Gas Association (AGA) and Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the seminar is geared toward utility professionals who don’t have a finance/accounting degree and covers a broad spectrum of finance and accounting essentials.
Rick Starkweather, partner at ScottMadden, will present “Rate Case 101–A Case Study.” “The case study session builds on and reinforces the ideas presented throughout the previous day and a half,” said Mr. Starkweather. “The participants will have an opportunity to apply their own regulatory strategy to an actual mock rate case. Participants will be split into two teams—one will develop the company’s filing, while the other acts as the commission staff and develops alternative analyses and positions on various issues. The session will close with an open discussion on the different points-of-view and advantages and disadvantages of the each group’s selected approach to the case."
