The popularity of good quality coffee shops is growing nationwide, as local patrons educate themselves in provenance of the beans, freshness of the roast and the art in preparing a perfect brew. “The culture is burgeoning so quickly all around South Africa and there are such amazing stories to tell in coffee, but until now there has been no formal media channel to tell them in. TheCoffeeMag will be that platform,” comments TheCoffeeMag's publisher, Iain Evans.
The quarterly magazine has a unique distribution model in that subscribers will indicate their preferred local coffee shop as the delivery address, and will be notified when the magazine is ready for collection. David Donde, owner of TRUTH coffee remarks, “We are proud to be involved with this exciting publication and are certain it will find an appreciative audience among our loyal customers.”
According to TheCoffeeMag editor, Melanie Winter, “TheCoffeeMag is full of hard-working, useful tips and techniques for making better coffee; in the first edition David Donde shares his valuable insight into how consumers should choose the perfect roast profile of coffee bean for their different home brewing methods. We want the magazine to be a community based publication which reflects the romance, the beauty and the aesthetic that coffee people understand and love about this subculture. In essence we want it to connect likeminded coffee loving people. Anyone is welcome to subscribe via our website and should look out for the first edition of the magazine at their favourite coffee shop in October.”
