Sept. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- The value of diamonds is not something easily pinpointed. The four C's come into it - colour, clarity, cut and carat; however there is no chart or guideline that will determine a price even having considered these things. Availability, supply and demand also factor as do now the fact that synthetic diamonds are much more readily available and of extremely good quality; rendering the value of polished diamonds at a lower figure.

The diamond trade is not a sturdy place to invest with mines opening and closing, taxes rising and falling and obviously strict laws being enforced and preventative action being taken against "blood diamonds" and the warfare that has been in effect over the production of the precious stone.

Lately the only true solid investment to be made would be in the heavily coloured and oversized jewels that are being salvaged and valued at a minimum of $1m. These it seems are in high demand due to their very limited availability, and are the only precious "precious stones" of the moment.

As there is no universal price per gram for diamonds it is a trade that needs to be under constant watch and with so many variables affecting their value, the diamond can be a volatile investment.
