The Safe Birthing Project is a community-based initiative that aims to contribute to efforts to improve the maternal health of women in the Amolatar District by building the capacities of community change agents and raising awareness among mothers and families about prenatal and newborn care, as well as providing family planning practices. Working alongside the Hope Development Initiative, a local women’s grassroots organization, the International Women’s Initiative hopes to provide culturally sensitive education and medical supplies to women in the Amolatar District.
The first phase will include an introduction to the community, including delivering brochures, delivering ‘Safe Birthing Kits’ and the necessary medical supplies to large medical supplies, and writing a needs assessment. It will additionally involve scouting and recruiting local community-change agents for the next phases of the project.
