Sept. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- In celebration of its founding by Joseph H. Lesser back to the days of Addison Mizner, Lindbergh, and Geist in the early 1920s on Narcissus Avenue in West Palm Beach, the Law Firm of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, PLLC (LLL&S) put community front and center at its 85th anniversary bash.

Opening with three selections performed by 15 year-old Cara Young showcasing the talent of the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, one of the many nonprofit organizations LLL&S has supported for several years, the firm and guests stepped back in time. With a 1930 roadster and a 1931 Ford Deluxe Town Sedan at the entrance, strands of pearls, cigars, flappers, and prohibition flasks of fun in-store, the more than 350 guests — a cross-section of prominent civic, community and Bar leaders from three counties — had much to toast.

As part of the festivities, law firm partners presented a check for $ 10,000 to Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County Executive Director Bob Bertisch and President Jeff Devore in sponsorship for the Society’s 25th Annual Pro Bono Recognition Evening & Auction, and a check for $ 10,000 to Alpert Jewish Family & Children’s Services Past President Howard Levy in sponsorship of the organization’s 2013 “No Excuse For Abuse Luncheon”. Gary and Jennifer Lesser serve as luncheon co-chairs to be held March 13, 2012 at the Kravis Center.

Managing Partner Gary Lesser shared that balancing job performance with a strong engagement in community service — as inspired by founder Joseph Lesser, his grandfather — continues to serve as the firm’s key cornerstone value. In the past 18 months, the boutique-size firm contributed more than $400,000 in donations and sponsorships to support vital charity and business missions of South Florida, including health, medical research, education, special needs, humanitarian/human rights, veterans, arts and culture, economic development, legal aid organizations, and other causes, and provided more than 2,500+ hours of pro bono legal services and community service. Earlier this year, LLL&S has given a major gift to the athletics program of Florida Atlantic University that has been commemorated with a concession stand named for the firm in the new FAU Stadium. It has also dedicated a bench at the entrance to the new Palm Beach County Bar Association building.

LLL&S focuses on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, having delivered significant verdicts and settlements for its clients. All firm partners and associates are “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell for demonstrating the highest level of legal ability and ethics. Reflecting the respect of their peers and the business and nonprofit communities, firm partners have been elected to serve in key leadership/advocacy positions for The Florida Bar, Palm Beach County and Martin County Bar Associations, Palm Beach County Medical Society, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Autism Speaks, and the Jewish Federation of the Palm Beach County.

Those joining in the celebration include partners Gary Lesser, Shepard Lesser, Joe Landy and Mickey Smith along with firm associates, West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio, Palm Beach Gardens Mayor David J. Levy, Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel, Former Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook, former Lake Worth Mayor Rodney Romano as well as Bar leadership, including Palm Beach County Bar President Adam Rabin and President Elect Jill Weiss, Florida Bar Board of Governors member Michelle Suskauer and South County Bar President Larry Corman and President Elect Robin Bresky.
