Greg Lotakis is the Grow Community Project Manager and Sustainability Expert who has been managing the sustainable construction of the first phase of the community. Previously Greg worked as a Civil Engineer for 5 years before beginning an 8 year career managing capital projects for the Alaska Railroad in Anchorage. Joie Olsen is the Grow Community Director of Sales & Leasing. She played an integral part in founding the Pier 66 project in Seattle which now houses the Bell Harbor Conference center, Odyssey Museum and Cruise Terminal. Joie's business dealings and relationships are always conducted with integrity, honesty and a passion for making people’s lives better. She works with potential residents to create a community that values a sustainable and connected lifestyle.
The concept of Grow Community started with the simple question of, Are we leaving the best that we can? This led to further questions such as, Wouldn’t it be nice to have solar panels on the roof? and Wouldn’t it be great if the kids could safely walk to school? and so on. After consulting with neighbors, they embarked on a journey to create the perfect neighborhood. A goal and vision spring forth of a connected urban community that enhances the quality of life of its residents by making sustainable lifestyle choices both accessible and cost effective and demonstrates that net-zero energy homes, built with sustainable materials can be constructed and sold at a price point that is replicable on a large scale.
Grow Community is the first endorsed One Planet Community, a development where buildings are energy efficient as possible and services, infrastructure and design features make it as easy, attractive and affordable for people to do the environmentally friendly thing, to build residential homes in the United States. Currently set on 8 beautiful acres west of Seattle, the Grow Community plans to expand soon. All construction is completed with local materials and companies.
